High-speed storage server and processing system
Processing system
A cluster system to build and efficiently share the large scale web corpora that are essential for augmented human communication research including knowledge graph construction, information reliability analysis, machine translation, speech/natural language processing, and non-verbal information analysis. It consists of high-speed processing servers and large-capacity file servers.
High-speed storage server
A high-speed storage server for building models for augmented human communication research such as speech translation systems. The system's max. throughput of 24Gb/sec enables high-speed access from multiple computers. The 48TB high-speed storage server also enables batch and interactive processes as well as client-dependent scale-out, which is utilized for building models with large data.

Soundproof room
Acoustic and brain waves experiments are conducted in this room.
-
Electroencephalogram (EEG)
A device to measure brain waves and other biometric signals. Using this 32-channel battery-powered brain wave measurement and analysis device, we are performing measurements of the brain activity caused by human communication.
-
Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS)
16-channel NIRS technology to analyze the functional localization of the brain activity in real time using near infrared light. The blood component hemoglobin scatters light, and the ratio of infrared light absorbed to that scattered changes depending on the degree of hemoglobin binding with oxygen. NIRS measures this rate of change and the change in oxygenated hemoglobin concentration.
